Flute & Piccolo Lessons
Unlock your musical potential with personalized flute and piccolo lessons tailored to your goals and skill level. Whether you're a beginner starting your journey or an advanced player seeking to refine your technique, each lesson is designed to inspire growth, confidence, and artistry. Let’s make music together!
Lessons will primarily be conducted in English, with conversational Cantonese and Putonghua available upon request, though Dr. Leung will not provide lesson notes in Chinese (traditional or simplified).
Course Description
Applied Lessons in Flute features private instruction in the form of weekly lessons (in person or online) focused on developing musical ability through study of technique (including sound and intonation), musicianship, and repertoire (including etudes, solos, band or orchestral excerpts/parts, and possible chamber works). All repertoire, including technical exercises, competition, and exam requirements, will be assigned according to individual ability at the discretion of the instructor after discussions with the student (and students’ parents when necessary). The goal is to help you become the best musician and flutist you can be, and to develop a lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of music and the flute. Exam and competition wins are just icing on the cake!
Be prepared to invest in at least some (if not all) of your repertoire, in particular technical exercises, etudes, major works, and all competition/audition/exam pieces as an investment into your musical journey and growth. Of course, Dr. Leung's music library is available as well for your use as well. Just be aware of the restrictions of copyright law!
